Percentage of downsizing home moves by UK regions

Using statistics from reallymoving user quotes, we have been able to track what percentage of the buyers in UK housing market are downsizing to a cheaper property. We can also see which areas of the UK have the highest percentage of downsizers.

Method

This research was carried out using information entered into the Conveyancing quote form on reallymoving. The data collected is based on the percentage of homeowners registering for quotes on reallymoving, that are buying a property for less than they are selling for.

The graphs above include live data.

The top graph* indicates the overall trend of downsizers in the market, using a 4 month rolling average. The bottom graph** is a static percentage of downsizers in a given area in the last 365 days. The top graph is dynamic and can be adjusted to reflect a given region by clicking on said region on the bottom graph.
