Bungay is a friendly Suffolk community nestled at the heart of a meander of the River Waveney. The town centre is home to many great shopping destinations and also hosts a weekly market that is the perfect place to pick up fresh produce and hand-crafted goods. There are a number of great restaurants and pubs, including the Castle Inn which serves great food and is the perfect place to try the locally-brewed but nationally renowned St. Peter’s Ale.
The historic town has many local landmarks including the impressive remains of the Norman-era Bungay Castle and the well maintained tower of the local windmill. The beautiful Outney Common is located at the edge of town and is the place to go for peaceful walks in a luscious green setting. Keep an eye out for local wildlife including otters, kingfishers, and herons. The clean and peaceful water of the river even makes it a popular spot for wild swimming on warm summer days.
Bungay is just half an hour to the coast at Lowestoft, making days out to the beach easily accessible. The road links in the area are good but Bungay has no access to rail travel. If you’re moving in the area, reallymoving can help you find the best movers, surveyors and conveyancers.
